Aubrin

The method

The house keeps a short record.

A studio worktable with paper patterns pinned to a plaster wall, cones of undyed yarn and morning light.

Stages of work

Drawing

A chapter opens with four drawings. If a fifth appears, one is withdrawn.

Cloth

Swatches are worked, washed and worn in the studio before a form is committed.

Pattern

Patterns are cut flat, then re-cut on the stand until the line falls correctly.

Record

Cloth, weight, measurement and place of making are recorded for the finished run and printed with it.

Stacked ribbed knit swatches in ecru, charcoal and clay on concrete.

On claims

Aubrin publishes no figure it has not measured and no certification it does not hold. There are no sustainability marks on this site, no counts of items sold, no reviews and no press quotations, because none have been earned and verified yet.

The same discipline applies to the garments. Fibre composition, weight, garment measurements, care and place of making will be printed for a run when that run exists, attached to the specific goods they describe.
